Wild boar fever

Wild boar fever

It can be a little hard for a North American hunter to understand the enticement of wild boar hunting. On the other hand they may relate to the chemistry of the sport if they are avid whitetail deer hunters in their own parts of the world. It is not the similarity of both animals but a special affinity for one particular game animal or the dedication to hunting it almost exclusively.

For most European hunters, stalking wild boar at night is the greatest challenge and a pair of ivory tipped boar tusks is the peerless trophy. It has been our experience over the years that some Europeans do not want to hunt anything else but pigs. We have h...

Another award for Caprinae Safaris

Another award for Caprinae Safaris

Caprinae Safaris has been given two awards by the Cinegetica hunting organization at this past Madrid convention. “Overall best Trophy in Asia” and “Best trophy with Bow” awards were given to Caprinae Safaris for arranging the hunt of our friend/client P. Ampuero’s pending archery world record Dagestan Tur. Pedro had arrowed a monster 41 inch Dagestan Tur in May 2016. These two will make a good addition to our awards collection.

Dureji is the name of the place

Dureji is the name of the place

Blanford urial is only one of the four subspecies of urial that inhabits Pakistan. Out of these four, only the Ladakh is not huntable as it is listed under the CITES Appendix I. Ladakh urial is considered to be highly endangered. Of all the four, Blanford urial seems to have the largest urial population in the country and offers the best trophy quality to trophy hunters. While the SCI world record was only 31 inches until about 10 years ago, today most of our clients collect rams bigger than 30 inches. However this should not be misunderstood. Even today the average trophy length in the Dureji area is around 27-28 inches. But thanks to extens...

The first hunter to ever take a Sind ibex with bow

The first hunter to ever take a Sind ibex with bow

Regardless of the game species chosen as a quarry, bow hunting is a tough sport in any case. One of the biggest challenges a bow hunter can undertake is the mountain game. Both Ovis and Capra species. There has been a number of bow hunters in the past who pursued these species that inhabit the most secluded parts of the world. These people were the pioneers who opened the doors of Asia for bow hunters by hunting many destinations for different species. But only a handful bow hunters likeTom Hoffman, Archie Nesbitt had the privilege to hunt in Pakistan but only for Blanford urial. Although it can be hunted in the same area no others had any lu...

Turkey is the number 1 destination for Bezoar ibex hunting

Turkey is the number 1 destination for Bezoar ibex hunting

Bezoar ibex is indigeneous to a number of countries like Iran, Turkey, Armenia and Turkmenistan. All these four countries are home to a certain Bezoar ibex populations although the later one never  allowed any ibex hunting even back in the late 90s when the country was the main destination for TCU and Afghan urial hunts. Armenia opened its doors to trophy hunters for some time in late 2000s but ibex hunting never caught on due to poor trophy quality. A few hunters tried to hunt this fascinating destination for Bezoar ibex but the average billy that was collected by the hunters was not good enough to make this destination popular with the tro...

Konya mouflon - A rare animal in a secluded part of our world

Konya mouflon - A rare animal in a secluded part of our world

Each and every species or subspecies of game animals have their own significance in the ecological system. But from a hunter's point of view, some species have more value than the others. For most, Marco Polo argali ranks high among the most sought-after animals while a more common chamois is desired less. For collectors this priority list can be different as the availability plays a more important role. Rare animals that inhabit the most secluded parts of our world can be on top of the bucket list of these avid hunters who travel around the world to add new species to their valued collection.

Konya mouflon is such an animal that bec...

They don’t make them like they used to

They don’t make them like they used to

We sometimes wonder about the motivation of a man who climbs the mountains after his quarry at the age of 86 when the mountains are steep enough for most of us anyway. Normally an average hunter would sit in his rocking chair against the fire place after the age of 70 and cherish the memories of the good old days. But not everyone.

We are not so sure that there are many hunters out there who decides to hunt Sind ibex in his mid eighties only because the ibex he collected about 30 years ago was not big enough. It takes only a special person to take such a decision and execute it. For the ones who does not know H. Cuellar, we must say he...

How lucky a guy can be

How lucky a guy can be

We always took pride in taking good care of our clients, not only during the hunt but way before the trip even starts. We are not humble when it comes to our PHs and office staff. They do almost everything within reason to make their clients happy. After all this is part of the tradition , good old “Turkish hospitality”. However this hunt with M.White and R.Welch was an exception.  Indeed these two true gentleman had to tend our PH who suffered  a severe kidney stone pain the night they arrived the hunting camp.  Since they had personally gone through the same experience, they knew a few tricks that could ease the pain. They really too...

Any Tur is a good one

Any Tur is a good one

If there is one thing tougher than taking a 40 inch Dagestan Tur it must be collecting a 40 inch Kuban Tur. R.Khan hunted in Azerbaijan with Caprinae back in 2008 hoping to get a good Tur. Wishes were granted. The horns measured over 40 inches along the big arc when the tape was put on them. After about nine years, this time Robert undertook a harder mission on the Russian side of the Caucasus range. His aim was not a 40 inch Kuban Tur but maybe something close to that magic number mark. Once more he were successful in fulfilling his dream. He did not have to stretch the tape as much but the horns of the monster Tur was big enough to m...

Bow hunting is a conscious decision to make the hunt harder

Bow hunting is a conscious decision to make the hunt harder

“Bow hunting is a conscious decision to make the hunt harder than it needs to be” says well known bow hunter Tom Miranda. We all know that hunting any game animals with bow is a difficult undertaking. Bow hunting some of the mountain game such as Dagestan Tur is even a harder goal to achieve. However this past spring brought us some incredible results. The two bow hunters we received in Azerbaijan (B. Coors, P. Ampuero) at different periods managed to arrow their Tur on the very first day of their hunts. What is more both animals were big, old specimens of their kind. In fact, one will probably turn out the new #1 Archery Dagestan Tur i...
