Is there anything else to hunt in Turkey?

Is there anything else to hunt in Turkey?

During the past five years, Cheryl and Marc Hansen made several trips to Turkey with Caprinae Travel for touring the country’s historical and natural beauties. Being an avid hunter, Marc never skipped a chance to throw in a hunt in order to combine both leisure activities. This season was no exception for the couple as they visited some other parts of the country they had not seen previously. The beautiful red deer stag Marc took in the end of the trip was the icing cake of the whole journey. Hansens are already looking into another trip to Turkey next year but we are struggling to find something for Marc to hunt he did not hunt in his...

Dream ram that came after three years of anticipation

Dream ram that came after three years of anticipation

Not everyone is lucky enough to draw a Rocky Mountain big horn sheep, but we found out that G. Boienti of Italy was. When he drew a tag about three years ago he put it in a request to postpone his Blue Sheep hunt with Caprinae. This year he finally had enough time to make a quick trip to this isolated part of Pakistan. Before long he filled his tag with a ram that will propably rank # 2 in the SCI book. I guess it is true that every cloud has a silver lining.

Perseverance always pays off

Perseverance always pays off

It has been a good year for Enrique Fernandez as he collected two exceptional trophies within four months time. Enrique was in Azerbaijan not too long ago, chasing  a 40 inch Dagestan Tur which is now being mounted in expert hands. Although very happy with what he shot in Azerbaijan, Enrique’s  most sought after trophy was always Bezoar as he had done three previous trips to Turkey to harvest a 50+ incher. He finally fulfilled his long awaited dream. We think that this whopper will give him some rest but don’t think that will stop Enrique from pursuing bigger Bezoar ibex

B. Keifer hunted many animals over the years in many different countries but never had any chamois hunting experiences previously. When we were notified about his inquiry for a hunt in Romania we could not dream for a better outcome in terms of trophy quality. He ended up shooting the pending SCI #2 Carpathian chamois along with a very good size European Brown bear.

Free range Konya sheep quality gets better and better

Free range Konya sheep quality gets better and better

M. King of England has been all over and hunted almost every species on the face of the earth one can imagine. Konya sheep was one specie in his bucket list for a long time. Since he refused to hunt them in fenced enclosure and agreed to be on our waiting list, he had to wait three long years before he got a chance to hunt for this rare species. His patience was rewarded with this outstanding ram.

60 inch Marco Polo is still hard to get but

60 inch Marco Polo is still hard to get but

The magic number for Pamir Marco Polo has always been 60 inches although not very many pioneers of Asian hunting in the 80s and early 90s could fulfill their dream of such ram. However things changed a bit  in the last decade or so as more and more international hunters started to collect 60 inch rams - even 70 incher. B. Valentine is one of those who is blessed with a huge ram well over that magic mark.

There is a lot to see and hunt in Pakistan

There is a lot to see and hunt in Pakistan

There are only a few game animals on our planet J. Link has not hunted yet. But the way he hunts, he is bound to run out of species he can hunt pretty soon. This time his target destination was Pakistan again where he had collected 2 trophy Himalayan ibex on his previous trip. Jay and his good hunting buddy C. Willis landed on Pakistan soil in a misty February morning. Small hills of Dureji was no match for these two young hunters so both collected their Blandford urial and Sind ibex in two short days. Jay’s urial particularly was so big that it nearly made the new SCI world record. Content with the result, the group left for the P...

Our hat is off to you Leon Munyan

Our hat is off to you Leon Munyan

When Leon booked this Marco Polo hunt he was in a perfect shape for any mountain hunt under the sun and all he needed was one more mountain species from Asia to be eligible for SCI’s “World Conservation & Hunting Award” Only two months prior to hunt we received an upsetting e-mail from his wife. Leon was hospitalized due to a virus infected to his brain by a mosquito. We had to postpone the hunt while Leon stayed in that terrible condition for months. Next time we saw him months later at the convention in his wheelchair, we lost all our hopes for the hunt although he looked determined. We rescheduled him for this hunt once again not b...

40 inchers don’t grow on trees but they are there to hunt

40 inchers don’t grow on trees but they are there to hunt

As most of you would agree, any Dagestan Tur is a good one. They don't come easy at all especially when you are stubbornly selective of trophy size. But Enrique Fernandez, possibly the biggest international hunter Philippines ever produced in its history, collected this great specimen with a 400 yard running shot on the second day of his hunt.

Would you rather have a longer hunt?

Would you rather have a longer hunt?

Mychal Murray is probably one of the youngest hunters in Caprinae clientele for big game but not the least experienced. He had done already quite a few mountain hunts all around when he booked a Mid Eastern red deer hunt with us to our surprise. But when the time comes, it turned out that he had very limited time to hunt. So the Caprinae team went out scouting before Mychal arrived on his scheduled time. He was real fast to prepare and go out for a afternoon hunt and put the last stalk on this good looking bull. As much as being happy to have scored with such a magnificent trophy, Mychal looked a bit bitter inside to complete his hunt th...

One more for The Weatherby

One more for The Weatherby

Renee Snider is one of the most recognized characters of the international hunting fraternity. She has been to almost every hunting destination and has hunted almost every species that is available to trophy hunters. This last one was her seventh trip to Pakistan for the last markhor species she had not collected, Astor markhor. Well, she has one now and a good one. We wish you best of luck on your quest for the Weatherby award. We know you will get it soon.

Great finale of the 2013-14 season

Great finale of the 2013-14 season

B. Valentine had a ball in Pakistan with his buddy C. Martin and his nephew Evan. Brian collected a nice Sind ibex along with a good size Blanford urial in the southern part of the country before they travelled up north. Here, he also scored with a nice Himalayan ibex and old Blue sheep ram which was heavily broomed off. It took them about two weeks to harvest four animals while they enjoy travelling and experiencing a totally different culture than theirs.

Best international outfitter of the year

Caprinae Safaris has been given the “Best International Outfitter of the Year” award by the Wild Sheep Foundation. The award was previously given to only 4 other outfitters and Caprinae had the honour of being the fifth to ever received the award. We would like to thank all who contributed to our success. For the ones who want to find out more about the award, here is a link: https://www.wildsheepfoundation.org/awards/hunting/international-international-outfitter-of-the-year

New generation of Russian hunters

New generation of Russian hunters

Slaba Gorb is in his mid 40s and has hunted a good number of mountain game around the world already. His trip to Pakistan for Blanford urial and Sind ibex was completed in such a short time that he wanted to extend it by adding a Punjap urial to his hunting bag which he did. Being so happy with the whole trip Slaba started making plans for another trip to northern part of the country for other species as soon as he returned home.

Monsieur Chevalier gets a good one on the first day

Monsieur Chevalier gets a good one on the first day

Daniel Andre Chevalier collected this nice Bezoar on the first hunting day of his trip to Turkey. He had to climb only about 300 yards up and he was within the shooting range. He now probably thinks that Bezoar hunting is the easiest mountain game on earth. Mr. Chevalier and his wife spent the rest of their time in Turkey touring and enjoying themselves with their French speaking tour guide Osman who will be a lifelong friend of the family.
